Virgil Prock Dean, age 100, passed away in Murphy, Texas on his 100th birthday on November 4, 2021.
Virgil was born and raised in Mesquite, TX by parents Frank & Callie Dean. He attended Mesquite High School. After he graduated, Virgil entered the Navy on July 16, 1942 with the 18th Naval Construction Battalion Seabee Division, as a 1st class Petty Office S1/C. He separated from the Navy on October 16, 1945. Virgil received the following military recognition: Presidential Unit Citation, 1 Blue star, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon (4 stars), American Theatre, and the Good Conduct Medal. After leaving the Navy, he attended Texas A & M University and graduated with an Architectural Engineering Degree. Virgil retired with Mesquite Independent School District after 40 years.
Virgil is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Rose Dean his parents, brothers and sister, and many friends. He leaves behind: his daughters Cindy J Dean and Candy Dean; grandchildren Andrea Spoerl, Amanda Spoerl, Kimberly Collins, Matthew Kipp and Christina Crenshaw; great-grandchildren Hailey Ortega, Madison Ortega, Richard Ortega, Kelyn Crenshaw, Kipp Collins, Kohl Collins, Korlee Crenshaw and Lylah Kipp; and great-great grandchildren Scarlett Rose, Bella Rose and Alice Rose.
Virgil was a proud member of The Sons of the Republic of Texas.
