Tresa Ann Sommers

April 19, 1951 — November 8, 2020

Tresa Ann Sommers, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Sunday November 8, 2020 at the age of 69.

Tresa was born on April 19, 1951 in Dallas, TX to Wayne Welch and Mary Jo (Watson) Coryell. Tresa married Gerald (Jerry) Sommers on July 17, 1976 and had one son, Christopher.

Tresa worked a variety of jobs including private investigator, medical x-ray technician, and commercial artist. Upon the birth of Christopher, she chose to focus on being a mom and homemaker.

Tresa knew the meaning of love. As a child, she helped raise her three siblings. As a wife, she was fiercely loyal and devoted to her husband. As a mother, she wanted nothing more than to shield her child from the pains of this world while providing every opportunity possible for success and happiness; and as a grandmother she simply enjoyed spoiling her grandson with love and attention.

Tresa had an infectious laugh always punctuated with a small snort. She had a talent for cooking, was amazingly creative, and great with household finances. She enjoyed spending time with family, arts and crafts, puzzles, and television.

She could be very stubborn and headstrong, never shying away from giving her honest opinion. She was a fighter and knew the meaning of perseverance. Some of this was who she was, some was from a hardened exterior developed from the many tribulations she faced including a slew of medical issues. However, at her core it was love of God and family that carried her through all of life's ups and downs. It is this love and perseverance we admire and remember most in this time of mourning.

Tresa is preceded in death by her parents and stepfather Duane Coryell. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jerry Sommers of Sachse; her son and his spouse: Chris and Naomi Sommers of Wylie; one grandchild: Cyprien Sommers; and three sisters: Linda Bell, Juanita Caldwell, and Judy Henderson.

A private funeral mass will be held in the Sacred Heart Cemetery chapel in Rowlett, Texas. Flowers may be sent to Charles W. Smith Funeral Home in Sachse, the day prior to the funeral mass.

Services entrusted to Charles W. Smith & Sons of Sachse, Texas.
