Thomas Larry Lundy, a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 78 on Friday, July 15, 2022, in Garland, TX. He was born to his late parents Herbert Lundy and Cleona Christine Lundy on May 30, 1944, in Paragould, AR.
Larry was a very outgoing and respectful person who never met a stranger. He always loved to tease and joke with others. In his younger years he worked in his parent's restaurant/hotel, The Corner Café. He played the piano and recorded a record with his band, The Valiants. He loved 50's music, football, and animals. He had a football scholarship to Arkansas State but chose to attend the University of Arkansas to pursue a degree in Architecture. Go Razorbacks! He moved his family to Garland and selflessly raised his three children as a single parent. He enjoyed spending time with his children coaching soccer games, attending basketball and football games, pageants, cheer, and dance competitions. He always enjoyed traveling to places such as San Francisco, Jamaica, and Germany. His favorite place to visit was the Texas State Fair, with children and grandchildren tagging along. He was always up for playing a game of Rummy after dinner, especially when he could jokingly confuse the grandkids on the rules. He met the love of his life, Shirley, and together they celebrated his last 24 years of life.
We are thankful for the time that God allowed us to spend together. Larry is in a much better place now and we know he was greeted at Heaven's Gates by his parents and his Aunt Dona whom he loved so much!
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Cleona Lundy and an infant sibling.
Larry is survived by his wife Shirley Lundy and his two daughters, one son, and one son-in-law: Sherry Pierce and her husband Dan, Thomas Larry Lundy, Jr., and Tisha Reyes. He is survived by his four grandchildren: Allison Frazier and her husband Dalton, Kristen Pierce, Zach Reyes, and Haley Reyes.
A celebration of his life will be held at First Baptist Church of Garland on Friday, July 22, 2022, at 10:00 AM. The First Baptist Church of Garland is located at 801 W Avenue D, Garland, TX 75040.
"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." John 14:2.
The family of Larry would like to thank each and every employee who cared for him for more than nine years with compassion and dignity.
