Tate Wells Wood passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021 in Houston, Texas after a very courageous two year battle with cancer. He was 24 years old.

Tate was born on May 21, 1997 in Arlington, Texas.

He graduated from Wylie East High School in 2015 where he was a member of the Varsity Golf Team. Although Tate had to take a 1 year break from school, he was two weeks shy of completing his last three classes for his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio. They will be awarding his posthumous degree. While living in San Antonio and going to school, he loved living with his friend from high school, Eric Valenzuela and his second cousin, Cobe Crimmings. He also worked at Sam's Club in San Antonio while taking classes.

Tate was an avid NBA fan and loved watching his favorite player, Chris Paul. He also loved playing golf, hunting, collecting and trading sports cards, anime, hanging out with his friends and schooling his family in Fantasy Football, where he is the reigning champion.

Tate made some of his favorite childhood memories at Possum Kingdom lake with his Granny and Papa. He had an infectious smile and the kindest heart. Often going out of his way to be a friend to those on the margins. In his 24 years, he touched countless lives and left an indelible impact on everyone he met.

Tate was also an organ donor and was able to donate his retinas.

Tate is survived by his parents, Julie and Mike Meek of Farmersville and Shayde and Rebecca Wood of Weatherford. Brother Hunter Meek (Mindy) and nieces Kinley and Lainey. Maternal grandparents, Wells and Linda Watson, paternal grandparents , Lewie and Janie Wood. Aunts and Uncles J.W. Watson (Missy), Kendell Blake (Wade), Don Meek (Dianna) Danny Meek (Barbara), Kim Hall (Rodney), Sharla Meek (Jared). Cousins, Josh Watson, Charity Meek, Chasity Nicholson (Michael), Eric Meek (Erika), Collin Millis (Kendall), Corbin Millis (Sara), Taylor Hall, and Caleb Blake. His great aunts and Uncles, especially his Aunt Susan (Glenn) and Aunt Connie (Don) many second cousins and other great aunt and uncles that loved him dearly. He was also survived by a long list of friends that he considered family.
