Susan Smith

Beloved wife, mother, sister, & grandmother born on February 20th, 1943, passed away peacefully September 27th, 2020 after a long battle with COPD and other ailments.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Frank & Helen Sachse. Susan is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Donald Smith; daughter; Jamie Colvin; sons; Donald Smith Jr & wife Danelle, Derek Smith & wife Crystal; grandchildren; Jackie Carmack and husband Justin, Taylor Colvin, Zach Hurtt, Blake Colvin, Kennedy Colvin, Cooper Smith, & Max Smith; great-grandchildren Logan Carmack & Aiden Carmack; sisters; Sandra Young, Barbera Sachse, & Linda Sachse; nephews Buddy Young & Matt Sachse; nieces Laurie Vulgamore & Husband Larry, & Patti Young; grand-nephew Justin Young and grand-niece Torre Sachse.

No job was more important than that of a mother. Susan was involved with many civic, charitable organizations, and church. She was a life-long member of Marsh Lane Baptist Church. Her Christian faith enabled her to be an extraordinary example of a devoted wife, mom, and MeMe, who presented love, joy, commitment, sacrifice, humbleness, protector and defender for others and her unique genuineness. Finally, she will always be remembered for her contagious laughter and living by the motto of "once a friend, always a friend."

Viewing to be held at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Sachse, TX. on Friday October 2nd, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at 2:00 next door at Sachse Cemetery Friday at 2:00 p.m. Flowers can be sent to Charles W.
