Stuart Alan Douglas, 78, died Saturday, October 10, 2020 in Garland, Texas due to complications arising from diabetes.

Mr. Douglas leaves his wife of 19 years, Janell Douglas; his daughters, Pauline Sexton and her husband Brian Sexton, and Cynthia Douglas and her husband Terry Morris; his grandchildren Robert Douglas, David Sexton, and Grace Sexton; and his sister Shelli Loheide; as well as his step daughters Shawn Coskey and Chrystal Love, five step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Calfee, and his brother, David Douglas.

The son of William Everett Douglas and Grace Warren Thomas, Mr. Douglas was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Navy, rising to the rank of Sonarman Petty Officer 2nd Class and earning the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal before his honorable discharge in 1968. He deeply valued his service and loved to travel, speaking most often of his Mediterranean tours and most fondly of Spain and Portugal. He was a long time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and served Post 3359 as Commander for four years. After his service in the Navy, Mr. Douglas had a long and successful career in technology, working for IBM and other technology companies as a systems analyst in Indiana, California, and finally Texas, where he was most at home. In retirement, he enjoyed building and repairing personal computers and giving them to his family, friends and neighbors.

Mr. Douglas will be interred at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on November 13, 2020 at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a charitable donation to the VFW National Home for Children or the American Diabetes Association.
