Sherrie was 14 months old when she traveled by ship to Yokohama, Japan, with her Mom and 4 sisters, to meet her daddy for the first time.  Ray was serving in the Army and on his second tour of duty in Japan.  Sherrie returned to Texas with her family in 1953.  When her Dad retired from the Army in 1956 the Hudsons moved to the Family farm near Thornton, TX which Ray had inherited.  The family then moved to Grosebeck, where her youngest sister was born. Sherrie lived in many different locations growing up in a military family, including Lawton, OK, Fort Richardson, AK, Waco, and San Antonio, TX.

Sherrie is survived by her loving husband, George Sutphen, her son John Dowdy IV, stepson Keith Barkman and his son Kayden, stepdaughter Kristen Barkman Bowling, her husband Brady and their children Jackson and Landry, stepdaughter Sandra Sutphen Burrus, and her children Cole, Kelsey, Riley, and George, stepdaughter Sheryl Sutphen, and stepdaughter Lynn Swaner.  She was preceeded in death by her parents, her son Bradley Barkman, her sister Marilyn Tucker and her brother Phillip Hudson.  She is survived by her siblings Nancy Rash, Evelyn Biery, Susan Eddelman, William "Bill" Hudson and wife Rhea, Charlene Hudson, wife of deceased brother Philip Hudson, Corless Englert and her husband Bradley, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

When her son Bradley died in 2007, Sherrie started and chaired a Grief Share group, to help herself and others cope with devastating loss.  Sherrie also volunteered with Kairos Outside programs, and with Johnathon's Place.  Sherrie was also generous donor to several charities and missionary groups, and sponsored a child in a slum in Brazil, helping the family build a stable home.  She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Mary Isham Keith Chapter in Fort Worth.  Sherrie loved to cook, crochet, and dabble in a multitude of "crafts".  Sherrie had a loving heart, and she was loved by most everyone who met her, and who will miss her forever.  Memorials may be made to Jonathon's Place, P.O.
