Ronald Eugene Palmer of Garland, Texas passed away peacefully on September 14th, 2024 just 2 days before his 86th birthday, surrounded with love by his wife of almost 58 years and his 5 children. While we grieve his passing, we are thankful he is no longer suffering after enduring a long illness.
He was Born September 16, 1938 in Hagerstown, Maryland where all who knew and loved him called him “Charlie”.
He joined the United States Air Force in 1959. During his 9 years of enlistment he proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as a flight engineer.
He married the love of his life, Sharron on Dec 19th, 1966. Upon discharge from the Air Force, they moved to Garland in 1968 where he worked in electronics and computer repair and resided until his passing.
He is survived by his wife and 5 children; daughters Vickie (and husband Rudy), Diane, Janice (and husband Mark) and sons Rick and Ray; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grand children and his 2 sisters from Hagerstown, MD, Martha Ausherman and Barbara Fotta.
He is preceded in death by his father Harold “Barney” Eugene Barnhart , mother Helen Tab Palmer and grandson Jason Salyers.
Ron enjoyed playing his guitars, building and flying RC air planes, camping, fishing and spending time with his family and friends
He was a proud man with a big heart, a witty sense of humor and an excellent handyman who could fix anything!
