Roger E Brand

Roger Eugene Brand passed away into the arms of the Lord on June 9, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas.  Roger will be greatly missed by his family and friends but we rejoice in knowing he is now in the presence of Jesus.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 8^th at 10:30 am at the Charles W Smith & Sons Funeral Home 2925 Fifth Street, Sachse, Tx.  There will be no viewing.

Roger was born in Dallas, Tx on December 31^st, 1937 to W.D. and Emma Jean Brand. He was a life-long resident of the Dallas area and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.  Roger grew up working on the family farm in Sachse, Tx with his parents and two brothers. During his teenage years he moved to Garland, Tx where he graduated from Garland High School in 1956. Roger played football in high school as a member of the legendary state championship teams of 1954 and 1956.  For as long as he was with us Roger loved to talk about his football glory days and was always looking for ways to teach his place-kicking skills to his two young daughters Rogane and Angela.  Following high school Roger attended Texas Christian University for two years where he was a member of the TCU Horned Frog football team.  After his time at TCU Roger married and began working at Texas Instruments in Dallas where he would work for 14 years.  In 1970 Roger embarked on what would become a 45+ year career in real estate in the Dallas area.  Roger loved working with people and loved being able to help them get into a new home. He truly had a love for the real estate industry that persisted throughout his entire life often saying that “Passion in what you do is essential”.  He loved the challenge of making the sales and the joy of meeting new people which led to him being a multi-million dollar producer. Over his career he held numerous positions in the community including being a member of the Garland City Council, Garland Planning Commission, Garland Board of Realtors and Garland Rotary Club as well as being a Board member for the Sachse, Tx Historical Society.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents W.D. and Emma Jean Brand, first wife Diane Babin and brother Robert Brand.  He is survived by wife Jean Brand who resides in Richardson, Tx; daughters Rogane Christal and husband Joel of Katy, Tx; Angela Stilson and husband Brian of Colleyville, Tx; brother Dwight Brand and wife Rita of Garland, Tx; five grandchildren Hailee Davis, Matt Stilson, Chase Christal, Andrew Stilson, and Brieanna Stilson who lovingly referred to Roger as Papa Rog.  He was also blessed with three great- grandchildren Laney Davis, Carter Christal and Cason Christal all from Katy, Tx.  Roger is also survived by two step-children Larry McCoy and wife Vicki of Richardson, Tx ;  Jennifer Moore and husband Ken of Gunter, Tx.  Roger was also survived by four step grandchildren Spencer, Caroline, Joshua and Julianna.
