Robert Murray Smith
May 3, 1939 - March 31, 2021

Robert Murray Smith (Bob) passed away peacefully on March 31st with his loving wife, Mary by his side. Bob, a native Texan, was born in Coleman to Scotty and Ada Smith. He was raised in Dallas along with his older sister, Sue and younger brother, Jimmy. He developed a love for sports at an early age when his dad taught him and his brother how to play golf, which he continued playing throughout his life. He went to North Dallas High School where he played baseball and basketball and went on to play both at Southern Methodist University where he graduated with a degree in Finance.

He worked in investment banking with the same company for over 40 years. A devoted husband and father, he coached his four kids in sports and took his family on many camping trips across the country. Bob loved spending time outdoors and had an eye for landscape design. With his own two hands and a lot of hard work, he took pride in creating and transforming his backyards into a beautiful oasis for all of us to enjoy. To his loving wife he was Bobby, to his four children he was Dad and to his grandchildren and great grandchildren he was Papa. He was preceded in death by his father, William James Reid Smith; mother, Mary Ada Smith; brother, James Richard Smith; and mother-in-law, Muriel Banks Clayton.

Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Banks; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Kita Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Sam Tarver; daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Rick Horton; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Cara Smith. Twelve grandchildren, Shavon Sanderson; Khan Pitts; Lindsay Linehan and husband Robert; Brittany Roper and husband Aaron; Jordan Smith and fiancé, Jake Kolkman; Sidney Lee and husband Caleb; Emily Tarver and Nick Gafford; Kyle Horton; Morgan Smith; McKenna Smith; Lily Tarver; and Addison Smith. Thirteen great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Luther Bartlett; sister-in-law, Geny Smith; sister-in-law, Gerrie McDowell; sister-in-law, Stephanie Easter and husband Richard; sister-in-law, Laura Goldman and husband Mert; sister-in-law, Barbara Kuhlke and husband Bill; as well as eight nieces and six nephews.

As our family liked to say, "WE'VE HAD A GOOD RUN". The family will have a private graveside service.
