Richard Lee McNair
June 18, 1930 — December 29, 2020
Richard Lee McNair went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 29, 2020. He was born in Sand Springs, Tulsa County, Oklahoma on June 18, 1930. He was one of five children born to Troy David McNair and Mary Elizabeth Fletcher McNair. He married Doris Smith on October 20, 1954.
He is survived by his sister Sylvia Williams of Wentzville, Missouri, son Harold McNair and wife Donna of Farmersville, daughter, Lea Ann Bobbitt and husband Mike of Greenville and son Bryan McNair of Dallas, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-laws, great-nieces and great-nephews who loved him dearly.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Doris Smith McNair on October 23, 2016, his parents Troy David McNair and Mary Elizabeth Fletcher McNair, brothers; Paul Archie McNair and Donald Gene McNair and sister Goldie Maxine McNair Compton.
Richard was an Army veteran and served in the Korean War. After the war he came to Texas and worked at Stanley Home Products where love was found while making googly eyes through an office window at his sweetheart Doris. After they were married, he worked at the United States Postal Service for more than thirty years where he retired.
He was a loving husband, Daddy, GrandDad, uncle, great-uncle, and brother-in-law who loved his family dearly. Richard's greatest joy was visiting with his family.
He and his wife spent many years glorifying God through their music ministry, singing at nursing homes, senior citizen events and various churches.
A graveside service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery 2343 Lake Road Lavon, Texas 75166 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in his name to Higher Trails Cowboy Church at P.O. Box 270 Merit, Texas 75458.
