Rhonda Gay Byrum, 64, of Kaufman, Texas, surrendered her battle with breast cancer on Friday, September 23, 2022 in Dallas, Texas.
Rhonda was born August 27, 1958 to Shirley Downey and Donald Buckbee in Dallas, Texas.
Rhonda had a deep love for her family. She gave her love so freely and unconditionally to every friend and family member she knew. No matter the circumstance, she was always everyone's greatest supporter.
Her granddaughter, Peyton brought so much joy into her life. If you entered her home, there you would see Peyton's framed pictures and artwork displayed. Peyton's love for her Mimi was equally as tangible and all-consuming.
Rhonda was incredibly honest. If she liked something, or didn't, she made sure you knew. If her words didn't tell you how she felt, her facial expressions surely would. She brought an element to the family that will never be replaced. She was a staple in our family and would always have you mad, sad, or laughing. Her heart was pure and she was always very genuine with her interactions.
She shared a special and intimate bond with each of her sisters, mom, and brother. She lived a life parallel to her twin sister, Donna. They were best friends and their bond was contagious. They lived many life experiences together, including delivering babies just months apart.
Beyond her family, Rhonda's greatest love was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In the midst of her battle against cancer, she clung to the promise of an eternity with Him and never wavered in her faith. The many verses Rhonda displayed to help her through her cancer journey are the same ones her family looks to for comfort during this time.
Rhonda is survived by her son, Shane and wife, Cera; granddaughter, Peyton; mother, Shirley; sister, Debbie; sister, Donna and husband, Obanion; brother, Jed; nephew, Jeff and wife, Heather; Nephew, David; niece, Kim; niece, Jessica and husband, Marcus; niece, Kayla and husband, Manuel; great-niece, Brianna; and great-nephew, Ayden. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald; husband, Kenneth; partner, Steve; and son, Nathan.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 30 at 12:00pm at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Sachse, Texas.
