Ray Gregory

August 1, 1941 — November 6, 2022

William Ray Gregory of Rockwall, TX, was born on August 1, 1941 to Boyd Edward and Annie Myrtle Gregory in Dallas, TX. He went home to be with his Lord on November 6, 2022 at the age of 81.

Upon his death, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Garland.

Ray, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was a long-time employee of Sears for 37 years. He began his career at Sears as a packer in the shipping department and worked his way up to General Manager in the Catalog Merchandise Distribution Center. He retired from Sears and shared his knowledge as a consultant for a few years. He finished his work career at Hobby Lobby, before retiring permanently to spend time with his wife and family.

Ray graduated from Mesquite High School in 1959 and was a proud Skeeter. He met the love of his life, Alice Tacker, in 1959 and they married on June 23, 1961 in Dallas, TX. They happily shared 61 beautiful years together. Ray professed his decision to accept Christ as his personal savior in 1966 and he was the hands and feet of Jesus from that day on. Throughout the years, he was a church treasurer, a deacon, a Sunday School teacher, usher and sang in the church choir. He faithfully served his church and community. He was a Boy Scout Leader, Pee Wee football coach and participated in Junior Achievement.

Ray loved high school football. During football season he would gather his buddies together and they would attend games on Friday nights all season long. He loved spending time with his parents and family. Sunday night donuts and coffee was a standing date. He loved sharing stories with everyone and especially enjoyed one on one conversations with people. He shared his wisdom with his children, grand children and great grandchildren and they will treasure that wisdom for a lifetime.

When asked to describe Ray in a single word, many described him as loyal, loving, compassionate, faithful, servant and Christ like. These words definitely describe the man, the husband, the father, the grandfather and the great grandfather.

Ray is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice Gregory, Son, Terry Gregory & wife Cindy, Daughters Lisa Dunn & husband Russell, Christy Morrow & husband Jeff. Grandchildren Jeremy Gregory & wife Kristy, Michelle Mills & husband Keith, Kayla Morrow, Jacob Morrow, Lacy Dunn, Lexie Dunn and Emma Morrow. Great Grandchildren Karsyn Mills, Noah Gregory, Addyson Mills, Ian Gregory and Jude Gregory. Sister Donna Salvato & husband Travis, brothers David Gregory & wife Debbie, Steve Gregory & wife Barbara.

He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Boyd and Annie Gregory, Brothers, James Hall and Delwin Gregory.
