Rachel Anne Moses

April 23, 1975 — September 8, 2023

Garland

Rachel was born on April 23, 1975 in Louisville, Kentucky to James and Catherine Moses.  She was born with severe spinal bifida and spent most of her first years in and out of the hospital.  Her brother Sean nicknamed her “Bird” since she could only eat a little at a time.

Rachel lived a hard life due to her disability with countless surgeries and hospital stays.  But during this time she accepted Christ as her Savior.  Her favorite hymns were “I’ll Fly Away” and “Buela Land”.  She had each line of both songs memorized and would sing them all the time.

Rachel loved the state of Kentucky and especially the Louisville Cardinals basketball team.  In early 1981 even appearing in a McDonalds tv commercial with Louisville's head coach.  She also developed a love for the Atlanta Braves and followed them faithfully until her death .  One of her greatest loves was the country group The Oak Ridge Boys.  Her mom and dad would take her to their concert every chance they could which was numerous.  She also had a love for Garth Brooks with her favorite song being “Shameless”.  Her favorite food was hotdogs with mayonnaise and sometimes relish.  Her favorite snack was M&M’s.

Rachel was faithful in the reading of her Bible and enjoyed going to women’s Bible studies and singing the classic hymns.  She was friendly and outgoing with an unusual sense of humor and became loved by those around her.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents James and Catherine Moses.  Her grandparents John and Cora Moses and John and Ginny Glynn.  She is survived by her brother Sean, niece Laura and nephew Matthew.  She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousin.

Rachel will be remembered for her outgoing personality, her kindness, her love of her family and her love of the Lord.  It is believed as well that after she arrived in heaven and after she was welcomed by Christ that He allowed her to run for the first time and He let her win the race and she is still running.

I love you Bird.
