In Loving Memory

Patricia Ann Clauson, 77, of Princeton, TX, died peacefully at home on February 26, 2024, following a brief illness, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Trish was born in Rochester, NY, on July 13, 1946, the oldest child of T. Vincent and Gladys Panella. Due to her family’s frequent moves, she attended many schools, including five high schools. In 1964, she was accepted as a pioneer student to Ambassador College in Big Sandy, TX. She loved everything about college life and made many lasting and cherished friendships.

At Ambassador, Trish worked in the transportation department, where she met her future husband, Arnold Clauson. After a year apart while he served as a ministerial trainee, Trish and Arnold were married on campus on June 8, 1969. They became partners in ministry with their first assignment in Peoria, IL. Over the next 45 years, they served in 12 churches across seven states.

In 1970, Arnold and Trish welcomed their first daughter, Sharyl Ann. Rachelle Lyn followed in 1973. A decade later, in 1983, Stephanie Arnelle completed their family of five. Trish loved being a mom and parented with conscious intention. She sewed clothes for her girls, made nutritious meals, and fully engaged her mind and heart in helping them grow and growing with them. In 1980, Trish became an educator as well—a role she never expected but fully embraced for more than 20 years until her last child graduated high school.

Trish became “Grandma Trish” with the birth of her first grandchild, Elizabeth Ann Fahey, in 1994, followed by Thomas Andrew in 1997 and Matthew Arnold in 2000. Trish and Arnold hosted many events for family and friends at their home in Denison, TX, and Trish always ensured everyone had everything they needed. Her guest rooms were always clean and comfortable, her kitchen was always well-stocked, and her joy in serving and sharing with others was immeasurable.

In 2014, Trish’s husband Arnold passed away. She faced the loss of the love of her life with courage and fortitude. In 2016, she moved to Princeton, TX, where she stayed busy spending time with her family, corresponding with cherished friends, hosting holidays and weekly movie nights at her home, and serving the community through her church.

In this new chapter of her life, Trish found a new way to brighten others’ lives through her growing passion for the art and craft of card making. Though she had never seen herself as an artist, she loved learning new techniques and making cards for her family and friends for every special occasion. In 2022, she took on the responsibility of running a card ministry for ministers’ wives and widows through Connecting and Bonding, sending dozens of individually crafted cards every month to women around the country and across the globe.

Trish was a wife, mother, teacher, counselor, confidante, advocate, servant, leader, artist, and friend. She brought her enduring grace and her profound strength to each of these roles. She will always be remembered for her abiding faith in the enveloping love of God, her intense interest in other people, her thirst for understanding, her wise words, and her abundantly generous heart. Each person she touched is better for knowing her.

Trish is survived by her children, Shari Fahey and Jonathan of McKinney, TX; Rachelle Clauson and Sam Johnson of San Diego, CA; and Stephanie Clauson and Clay Hodges of McKinney, TX; grandchildren, Róisín [Elizabeth] Potts and Jackson of Austin, TX; Thomas Fahey of Denton, TX; and Rowen [Matthew] Fahey of McKinney, TX; great-grandson, Ajax Potts; and sisters, Diane Snuffer of Chelsea, AL; and Linda Stonesifer and Carol Groft of Pahrump, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold Clauson; and brother, John Panella.

Trish has chosen for her remains to be laid to rest beside her husband at Fairview Cemetery in Denison, TX, in a private family service at a later date.
