Patricia Ann Baskin

March 11, 1938 — May 4, 2023

Sachse

Patricia (Pat) Ann (Freeman) Baskin, 85 of Sachse, Texas peacefully ended her earthly struggle on 4 May 2023, rejoining her husband of 65 years, and uniting with her Lord and Savior. Pat is survived by her children, Lt Col (Ret) Richard R. and wife Caryl A. Baskin; Lisa L. and husband Roland L. Wortham; and David M. and wife Julie M. Baskin; her grandchildren, Kenna B. and husband Adam Parker; Russell B. Baskin; and Kelly C. and husband Nicholas Stoots; Kyler L., Kaesen L., and Kami L. Wortham; and her great-grandchildren, Teagan and Ainsley Parker; and Adeline and Connor Stoots.

Pat was born to Ted M and Nettie Lee Freeman on March 11, 1938, in Corpus Christi, Texas where her father, an Army Air Corps pilot, was stationed. After losing her father in WWII (at age 3), her mother met and married Raymond Buchanan whom she always considered her father. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gene C. Baskin. She grew up in Whitney and then Ennis, Texas where she played drums in the Ennis High School Marching Band. After graduation in 1956, Pat attended secretarial school in Tyler, Texas where she and Gene were married. After moving to Dallas and then settling in Garland, Pat and Gene created a warm and loving home where they raised three children. After the children entered school, Pat went to work as an Administrative Assistant in multiple banks, ending her banking career at American First National in Dallas

In her personal life, she enjoyed scrapbooking and compiled many books of family and trips that she and Gene took together. She was also a decorative painter and spent hours painting wood objects that Gene skillfully cut for her. Often selling these projects at craft fairs or gifting them to family members and friends who still treasure them. Pat also loved cooking and trying new recipes but tended to go back to the basics which everyone loved! In her later years, she lost much of her eyesight but continued to listen daily to The Young and the Restless and The Bold and The Beautiful and she loved game shows.

Growing up in the church, Pat really enjoyed talking about her faith in her Lord and Savior. Early in their marriage she and Gene attended First Baptist Church in Dallas. They eventually moved their membership to Arapaho Road Baptist Church in Garland where they found much joy and love in taking care of the nursery every Sunday. Pat believed it was important that the little ones hear the good news of the gospels early and often. Although she denied being a great singer, she loved singing the gospel songs she grew up with and sharing an encouraging thought or message with the good words of the Bible whenever she could.
