Michael Warner Lord

April 8, 1941 — February 5, 2021

Michael Warner Lord passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at the age of 79. He died peacefully at home in Mesquite, Texas surrounded by his loved ones.

Michael was born on April 8, 1941 in Chelsea, Massachusetts to Bertram Elwood Lord (passed) and Helen Frances Shine (passed). As a boy, Michael faced many challenges, but his favorite childhood pastimes were the moments he was able to go fishing, and spending time with his Nana (Della Shine).

As a young man, he joined the Virginia National Guard; Artillery Division. Michael was an excellent marksman, and throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time at the gun range.

While in Virginia, on June 8, 1960, Michael was invited over for pizza by his neighbor and good friend, Jim Payne (passed), who would soon become his brother in law. It was at this gathering he met Carolyn J. Ware, the love of his life. Two months and twenty days from this first encounter, Michael and Carolyn were married on August 28,1960. This was the beginning of their 60 years of marriage. Shortly after tying the knot, Michael and Carolyn moved from Virginia to California to start their family.

Soon after reaching California, Michael enlisted with the California National Guard; Tank Division, where he served faithfully for the next seven years.

It was during their time in California where Michael began working for North American Aviation. It was there he developed a passion for all things airplane and flying.

Michael and Carolyn, on December 8, 1962, had a daughter named Michelle. Five years after her birth, Michael was offered a position with General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas. He moved the family of three to Texas, where he would begin a new chapter for his family. In time he went into insurance sales and then later, computer programming.

Michael had an entrepreneurial spirit and formed three companies in his life, the last of which was founded with his daughter Michelle in May 2018 which was named Zabdi Resources, LLC; the name Zabdi means Gift from God.

Michael had many passions in life, including but not limited to: America, history, politics, airplanes, shooting at the range, but his biggest passions were his family and the Lord. Michael was an ardent believer in Christ, and he loved sharing the word of God. Michael used to say, aside from the Lord, "family is everything", and he was always looking for ways to spend as much quality time as he could with his family and closets friends.

Michael is survived by his wife, Carolyn June Lord, his daughter Michelle Peters, his sister Michelle Samples, his grandson Jeremiah Peters, his granddaughter Ashley Tortorella, her husband Joseph Tortorella, and his Great Grandson, Victor Michael Tortorella "Grampy's boy", his brother William Hedvig, his sister Della Scarbrough, his sister Stephanie Pedroni, and his sister Heidi Lamy.

Michael is predeceased by his parents, Bertram Lord and Helen Shine, his brother Joseph Lord, his brother Edward Hedvig, his brother Kenneth Hedvig, his brother Paul Hedvig, his brother in law Jim Samples, his sister in law Constance Payne and her husband Jim Payne, and his son in law, Duane Peters.
