Michael Wayne Jones

December 25, 1949 — February 23, 2022

Michael Wayne Jones, 72, of Nevada, TX, passed away on February 23, 2022, after a short illness.

Michael was born on December 25, 1949, to J. T. and Maxine Jones in Odessa, TX. After Michael graduated from Andrews High School in 1968, he joined the U. S. Army, attending basic training at Fort Ord, CA. He trained as a lineman in the Signal Corps and was stationed at Fort Hood, TX.

After leaving the Army Michael moved back to Andrews with his first wife Connie and son Bill, where he started his career in telecommunications at Continental Telephone. In 1986 he moved to the Dallas area where he worked for Northern Telecom, then transitioned to Global Knowledge as an instructor. He was laid off from Global and started a handyman service, calling it "Grumpy's Fix-It Service". His tag line was "It's not because I am grumpy, it's because I am somebody's Grumpy". Michael was good with his hands and could fix or build just about anything. He was later rehired by Global for a few years, then laid off once again. His last job was at Wylie Outdoor Power where he worked the counter and sales.

In 1988, Michael met the love of his life and best friend, Jamie. After a whirlwind romance, Michael and Jamie were married in September of 1988. They, and daughters Sharina and Melissa, lived in Garland and Wylie before the two of them settled in Nevada. Michael and Jamie were by each other's side for over 33 years, through the good times and bad, in sickness and in health, until his last breath.

Michael loved God and his family more than anything. He also enjoyed competitive silhouette shooting, making numerous friends attending competitions, attending gun shows, fast cars, watching drag racing, making people laugh with his bad dad jokes, and riding the mule around the homestead with his beloved canine companion Carley.

Michael was predeceased by his mother and father, mother and father-in-law, sister Barbara Trenchard, sister-in-law Trudy Craigo, her husband Edward Craigo, and sister-in-law Sherry McVay and her husband Hugh McVay, and nephew Trey Trenchard. He is survived by his wife and best friend Jamie Jones, son Bill Jones and wife Renue, daughters Sharina Van Syckle and Melissa Campbell, and his beloved canine companion Carley. Adopted daughter Heather Jones, and bonus daughters Shelly Guerrero, Elizabeth Brown, and Tori Vanderslice. Granddaughters Astasia Girard, Heather Cope and Husband John and adopted granddaughter Morgan Grubbs, as well as bonus granddaughters Alyssa Guerrero, Natalia Guerrero, Olivia Guerrero, Cortlyee Simmons, and Rosie Brown Mendoza. Grandsons Colby Campbell, Steven Ramirez and bonus grandson Landon Hudson. Great granddaughters Alexis Ramirez and Brighton Cope.
