Melvin Ray Bandy

58, born December 19, 1953 in Flint, Michigan and passed away May 5, 2012 in Garland, Texas.

Melvin served our country in the Navy during the Vietnam Era in the early 1970's, after an honorable discharge, he worked as an automotive repair technician until retiring in 2009. Mel was known for the love he had for his
wife, Gail, his superb mechanic abilities, his sense of humor, his passion for music which included playing the guitar for hours on end. His favorite
musician was Eric Clapton when Eric Clapton was part of a group named "Cream", "White Boy Blues" to present. Music by Eric Clapton was played at his wedding to Gail in 1986 and in the Memorial Service honoring his life. Melvin died suddenly at 7-11 in Garland Texas from what appears to have been a blot clot causing respiratory arrest leading to cardiac arrest. He was
loved deeply by his wife, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick Bandy.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Gail Bandy; four daughters, Angela, Janine and her husband, Kevin, Jayna and her husband, John Paul, and Jamie and her husband, Terry; seven grandchildren, Niki, Michelle, Taylor, Kevin, John Paul, Jordyn, and Loryn; father, Melvin; mother, Maxine; four sisters, Lynne, Michele and her husband, Ken, Lisa, and Kristen; brother, Michael; and numerous other family members.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 2925 5th Street, Sachse, Texas with Reverend John Chastain officiating.
