Melinda "Mindy" Vogel

Melinda "Mindy" Madean Herrera-Vogel, 49, of Wylie, Texas, passed away on November 14, 2022 after a long illness.
Mindy was born on September 22, 1973, in Richardson, Texas. After Mindy graduated from Wylie High School in 1992, she went on to study Kinesiology at the University of Evansville. At Wylie High School and the University of Evansville, Mindy was a cross country runner. Running was a passion of hers, her whole life.
Mindy bravely fought an illness for as long as she could before it took her. She was a fighter and never let anything hold her back. Her strength and tenacity in fighting off this illness was an inspiration to many.
She is survived by her children, Maguire and Gehrig Vogel, her father Zachary Herrera, and her brother, Jesse Herrera. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Herrera and her brother, Curtis Herrera.
Mindy will be remembered for her humor, kindness, love, strength, perseverance, caring heart, and beauty, inside and out. She was and always will be a Lady Pirate.
Services will be held at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 22 at 11am. 2343 Lake Rd, Lavon, TX 75166.
The viewing is from 5-7pm on Monday.
