Martha Sue Babbitt

April 4, 1946 — March 21, 2021

Martha "Marti" Sue Babbitt, age 74, of Plano, Texas, passed away Sunday evening, March 21st at her home after a short struggle with lung cancer.

Marti was born April 4th, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Kenneth and Doris Falting Babbitt. Doris and the family moved to Long Beach, CA in 1954, following the death of Marti's beloved grandfather.

Marti graduated from Woodrow Wilson high school in Long Beach. She graduated with honors in receiving her Associate in Arts and Certificates in Management and Real Estate from Coastline Community College, Fountain Valley, CA.

Marti's career was primarily in loan servicing in Savings and Loan in California and she later worked for BBWCDF law firm, Dallas, as Operations Manager. After her retirement, she became an avid reader of women's books and became an audio proofer for Bold Strokes Books. Marti enjoyed many years of RVing. She was a kind and deeply caring person who knew no strangers, developing numerous life-long friendships. Marti had a certain spark and vitality that drew others to her. She was a woman of deep faith and a lover of nature, animals and children, who loved to laugh and bring joy to others. She had a heart of gold. She enjoyed researching genealogy and connecting with new-found cousins.

Survivors include: beloved wife and partner of 37 years, Linda Parks and their beloved schnauzer, Xena; surrogate daughter, Teresa DeVinaspre Norton of Boise, ID; surrogate step-son, Rick Barton (David Ness) of Milford, PA; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Rohrman of Garden Grove, CA; brother-in-law, Mark Ogas, Long Beach, CA; brother-in-law, Rob Parks (Charlotte) of Pea Ridge, AR; sister-in-law Sandy Williams (Terry) of Independence, KS; sister-in-law. Sue Brown (Tom) of Coffeyville, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marti was a member of Northaven Methodist Church, GCLS (Golden Crown Literary Society) and the local Women With Pride book club as well as a member of the National Society of the Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Michael "Mike" Rohrman; Jackie Losinger and, Trich Phares; and her beloved pets, Teddie, Idgie, Nicki and Cosmo.

Memorial services will be held at Northaven Methodist Church at a later time due to Covid restrictions.
