Lisa Mae Saunders

Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Lisa Mae Saunders, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, four days before her 62^nd birthday.

Born on December 16, 1961, in San Diego, California, Lisa was the youngest of six children born to Vera and Luman Saunders.  Her father proudly served in the military, and was stationed at bases in California, Virginia, Rhode Island, and Alaska.  Upon retiring from the U.S. Navy, Lisa’s father made his permanent home in Garland, Texas, where Lisa attended school, married Willie Miller, and had two children, Misty and Amanda.

Preceded in death by her parents she is survived by five siblings, Lynne Saunders, Lou Simas, Jack Saunders (wife, Judy Young), Sara Toole (husband, Pat), and Jeff Saunders (partner, Beth Lesser); her former spouse, Willie Miller; two greatly loved children, Misty Miller and Amanda Miller (life partner, Angel Gomez); three cherished grandchildren, Tre Abraham (partner, Kenya Serpas), Alyssia Abraham, and Mariana Gomez; and two adored great grandchildren Amara Reid and Embrace Abraham, all who lovingly called her “Nana”.

Memorial service will be held at Charles Smith Funeral Home in Lavon, Texas, on December 28, 2023, at 2:00 pm.  Brother Draper will officiate.
