Lawrence D. Ravert

January 10, 1933 — June 15, 2012

Rev. Lawrence Douglas "Larry" Ravert passed away peacefully at home on June 15, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born January 10, 1933 in New York.


Larry was an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church and served as Pastor in many churches in the North Texas Conference UMC for over 50 years. He was a 33rd Degree Mason, active in Scottish Rite, York Rite, Hella Temple, and Edwin J. Kiest Lodge, and a member of the Dallas Model "A" Club.


Survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol Ann Ravert, daughter Susan Bryan and husband William, son Russell Ravert and wife April, daughter Lisa Wintermute and husband Dalen; grandchildren Brittany and Brandon Burrows (Bryan), Alex and Blaine Ravert, and Preston and Lauren Wintermute; brother Donald Ravert, sister Barbara Voorhes and husband Bill; and a host of extended family and friends.


Larry was a man of great faith and prayer who loved God, his family and the Church. He was an encourager and comforter. He was known for his great sense of humor who brought great joy and exceeding love to others. Memorial Service will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 22 at University Park United Methodist Church, 4024 Caruth Boulevard Dallas, TX 75225, 214-368-1435.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to University Park UMC; Lakewood UMC for the "Ravert Friendship Garden;" or Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Dallas.
