Karl Wayne Hudgins

Karl Wayne Hudgins was born on May 14, 1929 in Sulphur Springs, Texas and went to Heaven on Thursday, January 14, 2021. He graduated from Southern Methodist University as a Music Major. Karl taught music and was the Band Director at Irving High School. For twenty plus years Karl played the trombone and sang nightly with Tommy Loy's band at The Adolphus Hotel. In 1962 Karl left the music field and joined Marty Martin & Associates and became a traveling Employee Benefit Specialist and traveled throughout several states, moving his family with him to several different states. It was at this time that Karl and his wife, Janie, met Edna and her husband, Glynn. Edna was Marty Martin's Executive Secretary. In the early 70's Karl became self-employed as a traveling Employee Benefit Specialist writing various benefit plans for American Heritage Life. He retired at the age of 80.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents: William Alva and Mary Elizabeth Hudgins; his wife of 38 years Janie Darlyne Hudgins; his daughter Leta Elizabeth Hudgins; and his son Jason Wesley Hudgins.

Karl is survived by his wife, Edna Geer-Hudgins; grandson Eric Wayne Hudgins; son Dr. William Bradford Hudgins and wife Mindy; and daughter Karla Jane Hudgins and wife Jennifer. Step-sons: Rick Geer and wife Julie; and Joe Geer and wife Cindy. Grandchildren: Nick Allison and wife Brittany; Josh Geer and wife Katie; Lindsey Walton and husband John; Zach Geer and wife Ashlyn; Ellen Hudgins and Daniel Uetrecht; Sydney Hudgins; Emily Terrell and husband Andrew; Jake Geer; Peyton Geer; and Grayson Hudgins. Great-grandchildren: Brianna Allison; James Allison; Jett Geer; Luke Walton; Lincoln Uetrecht; Kali Geer; Macey Geer; Ty Walton; and Jax Geer. Sister: Mary Ann Simmons.

A Memorial Service will commence at 2:00PM on Thursday, February 11, 2021, in the Chapel at Eastgate Funeral Home.
