Judith Ann Clay

Judith Ann Jacobs Clay was born June 15, 1944 in Youngstown, Ohio. She grew up in Cleveland and moved with her family to Vernon, Texas, at a young age. Her family moved to Richardson, Texas, where she graduated from High School in 1962. In September, 1965, she married David Clay. Upon David’s return from military service, she graduated from East Texas State University (now A&M University Commerce) with a BS degree in English and biology. She and David spent a year in Goliad, Texas, where Judy taught. David and Judy then returned to Commerce where she received her MS degree in biology. After teaching high school biology in Mesquite and Plano, she and David moved to Thermopolis, Wyoming, where she was active in community service, substitute teaching and singing with the Holy Cats, an all-female gospel group. In 1973, she and David were transferred to Lafayette, Louisiana, where she worked as Office Coordinator of a local law firm. She and David returned to the Richardson/Plano area in 1986 where she worked for EDS as a technical writer for eleven years, followed by positions with Southwestern Bell and Kinko’s. Judy loved life and enjoyed traveling which included trips to England, Scotland, Ireland, Alaska and the Southwestern US. Their last trip was to New England for Fall Foliage. Judy enjoyed golf, pistol shooting with David and fishing, most especially on the White River in Arkansas.

Judy was predeceased by her parents, George and Ann Jacobs as well as her brother, Randy. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, David; brothers-in-law Michael Clay, Jerry Clay and his wife, Rosemary; nieces, Carlaine Clay Casey, Jane Jacobs, Michele Warren and husband, Brett; nephews, Greg Clay and wife, Julie and Paul Jacobs; several great nieces and nephews; as well as many dear friends.

There will be a celebration of Judy’s life at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Eastgate Funeral Home. (www.eastgatefuneralhome.com) At 3:00 pm there will be a reception at the Woodpark Home Owners Association Club House. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society would be favored
