Joseph Dale Younce

May 2, 1931 — December 16, 2010

Joe Younce experienced a long and fulfilling lifetime and he passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2010. Joe was adored by his family and liked by almost everyone that he came in contact with.

Joe and his wife, Miki moved to Sachse, Texas in 2004 from their adopted hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada, following their daughter, Diana, who relocated to Texas with her husband and children for work. Joe was born May 2, 1931 in Mabel, North Carolina where he grew up and joined the US Army at the age of 24. Joe was stationed in Japan where he met Mitsue Naito and they married in 1957. After 20 years and 2 tours of duty in Vietnam, he retired from the Army in 1975 as an E8 Master Sergeant and moved his wife and daughter to Las Vegas where his cousin and brother worked for the local telephone company. Joe spent 19 years at Sprint working as an outside plant engineer and manager, retiring in 1994. It was then that he began his third and most fulfilling career choice " being a one of a kind grandfather to his 3 precious grandchildren. Joe loved sports and throughout his life played baseball and golf. His greatest passion was his family but he took much enjoyment from sitting in his lawn chair out in front of his house and conversing with friends and neighbors.

Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Mae Winebarger and younger brothers, Bill and Jerry Younce. His loss is a staggering blow to his wife of 53 years, Miki, and his daughter, Diana, her husband, Keith and their three children, Kelsie, Alec and Remy. He is also survived by his son, Dale Younce, and his sisters Judy Keller and Geneva Wamer.
