John Ray Staples, affectionately known as “Big John” and “Papa John”, of Wylie, Texas, passed away on October 25, 2023, at the age of 84. Born on June 10, 1939, he peacefully joined his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, leaving behind a legacy of boundless love and unwavering warmth.

John leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Anne Staples, and a legacy of love that extends to his devoted sons, Kelly, Kevin, Keith, and Kerry Staples. He was a cherished father-in-law to Felicia Adamson Staples and Bonnie Staples, and an adored grandfather to Chelsea Staples, Shelby Staples, Josh Staples, Heather Staples, Kenneth Carter, Stephanie Patterson, and Ryan Carter, Jake Woodmansee, Jessica Robyn Woodmansee, Chelsea Tyler Woodmansee. His great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Ellie, Mayzie, and Major, were a constant source of joy, as was his niece, Donna Gail Giusi.

Preceded in death by his parents, John Staples and Hazel Beatrice Jumper Staples, his sister Betty Beatrice Powel, his son John Steven Staples, and his nephew John Geoffrey Powell.

John's life was marked by profound love, kindness, and unyielding dedication. He served his country with honor in the US Air Force from 1960 to 1964, excelling as a Radio Repairman, a role he approached with unmatched skill and dedication. His military service reflected his deep commitment to his country and his unwavering sense of duty.

His faith was an essential part of his life, and he found support, strength, and lifelong friendships at the First Baptist Church of Rockwall. His unwavering belief in God guided him and those around him, illuminating their paths with his steadfast faith.

As a successful entrepreneur, John owned Batteries Plus stores in Garland and Rockwall, with his son Kevin. Prior to his ventures with Batteries Plus, he was the esteemed proprietor of Computer Junction in Richardson. His business acumen, coupled with his genuine kindness, endeared him to his patrons and colleagues alike.

John's mission in life was to provide for his family and leave behind a legacy defined by love and perseverance, values he fulfilled with unmatched commitment. His generosity knew no bounds, and his infectious smile endeared him to everyone he met. Though his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, the love he shared will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Join us on December 10th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at 202 Barranca Trail, Wylie, TX, to celebrate the remarkable life of John. Together, let's honor his memory and the profound impact he made on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. Feel free to come and go as you please, as we gather to remember and cherish the legacy he left behind.
