Jimmie Ray Powell

May 11, 1941 — September 30, 2021

Jimmie Ray Powell spent his whole life serving his Lord and savior Jesus Christ and on September 30, 2021 he cashed in the promises of God and went to heaven to live in the home prepared and waiting for him. Jimmie fought cancer and won this year as the doctors declared him in remission. He was still getting weaker and weaker but he kept on fighting. Undiagnosed mini strokes gradually worsened his condition until it finally took him. Even to the end he surprised doctors with the things he was able to do considering the devastation the strokes caused in his brain and spinal cord. Nurses referred to him as Superman. His son and daughter called him Daddy. His grandkids called him Paw-paw. His great grandkids called him G.G. Paw. His brother and sister called him Bubba. His wife called him the love of her life as they had been together since she was 16 and married for 55 years. He was an elder and dear brother in Christ to his church home at Northwest Christian Church of McKinney. If anyone had the pleasure of meeting him they loved him. He loved to tell corny jokes and you couldn't help but laugh with him. He was a great Christian man that loved his family and was painfully unselfish. He lived very modestly. He worked at Texas Instruments for 36 1/2 years as a dispatcher planner and retired to his cabin that was his lifelong dream and probably the only real thing he did for himself.
Jimmie is survived by his wife, Brenda Powell; son, Billy Powell & wife Cindy; daughter, Tonya Buzbee & husband Mike; 6 grandchildren – 2 from his son, Cody Powell & Hannah Powell, and 4 from his daughter, Michael Buzbee, Nathan Buzbee, Matt Areingdale, & Brittany Bennett; 7 great-grandchildren, Gage Buzbee, Kade Buzbee, Matthew Areingdale, Kail Buzbee, Briley Buzbee, Megan Areingdale, & Claywood Bennett; brother, Ronnie Powell & wife Gean; and his sister, Connie Havill & husband Jerry.

Donations in honor of Jimmie can be made to Northwest Christian Church, 1513 N. Bradley St., McKinney, TX 75069
