Jay Coulter Covert

February 20, 1946 — December 18, 2023



Jay (Tony) Coulter Covert was born on February 20th, 1946, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to parents Albert Coulter Covert and Muriel Gail Hamilton.  He passed away on December 18th, 2023.  Tony lived in many states, including North Carolina, California, Florida, and Texas. 

He was an avid fisherman, hunter, mechanic, and race car driver.  He is preceded in death by his uncle, Ed Hamilton, and his lovely wife, Joyce Dell Covert, who passed away in 2010.  They had a wonderful life together and enjoyed traveling throughout the country.

He is survived by his four sisters, Laney, Christine, Robin and Bugar, and his aunt, Evelyn Hamilton, and children:  Jay Covert and wife Cindy, Brian Covert, Wade Mitchell and wife Carrie, Kelly Braucht and husband Ralph, Lisa Perkins and husband Brian; along with nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

The visitation service for Tony will be at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 2925 5th Street, Sachse, TX, 75048 on Friday, December 22nd from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.  Graveside services will be held at Old Salem Baptist Church, 6199 FM1840, New Boston, Texas 75570 on Friday, December 29th at 1pm.
