James J D Murphy

James Douglas "JD" Murphy was born May 24, 1932 to Tommy Franklin Murphy and Edith Mae Northcutt in Smith County, Texas, and entered into the arms of his Savior on August 19, 2021 at the age of 89.

JD graduated from Van High School and went to work for TemCo Aircraft until being drafted. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from January 1953 to January 1955 as a Military Police.

Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, he met and married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Farley on September 20, 1957 and they celebrated 46 years together when Joyce preceded him in death on November 1, 2003. Two children were born to this union – son Robert Douglas "Doug" and daughter LeAnna Lynn.

JD was greeted by beloved family when God called him Home: wife, Joyce; parents, Tommy and Edith; brothers Tommy, Jr., Billy Ray, and Bobby Gerald; son-in-law Michael Howard; great grandson Eli and many other family members.

JD was a much loved father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather and is survived by his son Doug Murphy and wife Angie of Aledo, TX; daughter LeAnna Howard of Beebe, AR; sister Edith Moore and her daughters Sherri, Sandra, and Donna all of Terrell, TX; 8 grandchildren -Justin, Curry, CJ, Erik, Andre "Bubba", Shannon, Joey, Kristi; twelve great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
