James Daniel Moses April 4, 1944- December 2, 2022.  James was a devoted Christian, husband, father and grandfather.

James was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee to John Daniel Moses and Cora Lee Moses (Danner).  At the age of 2 yrs old he moved to Murphy, North Carolina with his family.  He graduated from Murphy High School in 1962.  In 1963 Dan enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1963 and discharged out of the Marines in 1973.  While I’m the Marines he did two tours in Vietnam.

While stationed at Fort Holabird, Maryland where he met Catherine “Katie “ Glynn in September 1967.  They were married on January 5, 1968 and stayed married and faithful to each other until the time of her passing on July 13, 2022.

Upon his exit from Marines he attended the Boyce Bible College where he became an ordained Baptist minister.  Pastoring several churches and becoming an evangelist.

In the summer of 1984 he moved to Dallas, Texas join the Dallas Police Department where he was a patrol officer, an undercover officer and department Chaplin.  He with the Dallas Police Department stayed until he retired in 1999.

After retirement he became the pastor of a church from 2001 until 2005 before retiring from the pastor hood.  After retirement, and at age 60, Dan went to Afghanistan for a year.  Dan was preceded in death by his parents John Daniel Moses and Cora Lee Moses, sisters Selma Carter, Phyllis G Phillips and Grace Moses.  He was also preceded in death by his daughter in law Rhonda D Moses.  He is survived by his son Sean D Moses, daughter Rachel A Moses, granddaughter Laura M Moses, grandson Matthew Moses.  He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews along with numerous great nieces & nephews.

Dan will be remember for his love of Christ, his leadership, his friendship and his family.  There are no services at the family’s request.  Any donations are requested to be made to the https://www.garysinisefoundation.org/   in support of disabled veterans.
