Jackie Ray Jones

Jackie R. Jones, 80, of Blue Ridge, TX, passed peacefully from this life on August 1, 2021. He was born in McKinney, TX on October 11, 1940 and attended McKinney schools, he received his diploma while serving in the Air Force 1960-64. He was an active member of the Sherman, TX Church of Christ.

He worked for 35 years as an auto and diesel mechanic, the last 22 years of his career as a Supervisor for North Texas Municipal Water District, retiring in 2000. His love of fishing and deer hunting occupied a lot of his time off from work, and a good deal of his retirement time. He was always willing to help his family and friends with any mechanical or maintenance issues they had, if he didn't know how to fix something, he was very willing to learn. During retirement he also loved caring for his chickens, goats and donkey, learning all the proper husbandry things he needed to, even trimming Rosie the Donkey's hooves.

He was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Lorene Jones, brothers Charles "Sonny" Jones, Bill Jones, Jimmy "Butch" Jones, and Robert "Bobby" Jones. Sisters Delores Sides and Margaret "Sue" Wheeler, daughter-in-law Amy, and Great-Grandson Elijah Kai Moore.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Jones, sons Randy Jones and wife Julie, Greg Jones and wife Debbie, and Doug Jones, nine grandchildren, Angela Moore and husband Toby, Jaclynn Jones, Mike Sorrells and Sarah, Cody Jones, Sean Jones, Jordan Jones, Jayce Jones and wife Natalie, Jackie Jones and Greg Jones. Great-Grandchildren Caden, Gage, Isaiah, Leila, Abigail, Emery, Ashton, and Solo will arrive soon. Sisters Viki Hocker and Sharon Powell, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
