Jackie Campen
1929 " 2012
Jackie Campen passed away at home in the early hours of May 13, 2012. Born in Jamaica, New York in 1929, she graduated from Bridgewater (MA) State College and worked as a school teacher in Quincy, Massachusetts before marrying Fred Campen in 1958. After living in California and Canada, they moved to Dallas in 1966. Her priorities were her family and her faith. Her greatest legacy was raising three daughters to be confident and loving women in their own right.
Jackie’s life should not be measured by the last 18 years, but the first 65. Born to Italian immigrants, she never forgot her Italian roots. There was always plenty of food for special events - 5-course Thanksgiving meals anyone? " a trait passed on to her daughters, much to the chagrin of their partners.

Jackie was always taking care of others " from her brothers as they grew up, to the school children she taught in Massachusetts and California, to the thousands of children she guided as a teacher and Director of Religious Education at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for 18 years.

Jackie met Fred for the first time on Mother’s Day, 1955 and her death on Mother’s Day, 2012 brings their relationship to a poignant close. Fred’s love and care for her since January, 1994 allowed her to meet and hold all her grandchildren and be there for significant life events including weddings, graduations and many wonderful holidays. As her grandson said, her face would light up when she saw us.
Jackie will be missed by her loving family; Fred, her husband of 53 years; daughters Casey (Henry) Pennell; Adele (Jay) Caldwell-Work; Lisa (Patrick) Ingram; six grandchildren " Caeleon, Caitlin, Sean, Amanda, Dylan and Connor and her two brothers Lou (Joan) Fellini and Don (Carol) Fellini, her nieces and nephews and the many friends and students whose lives she has touched along the way.
