Jack Harold Bonner

JACK H. BONNER, 87, of Dallas, TX was born in Webb, MS on April 14, 1924 and went to join his wife Wanda (Curtis) Bonner and his Lord on April 10, 2012. He founded Southwest Electric Motor Service of Dallas in 1951, remaining as President until his passing. The youngest son of 6 children by William L & Nell Bonner. He is survived by sisters, Marguerite Bond, Greenwood, MS and Betty Bailey, Greenville, MS; children Sheryn Taylor, Indianapolis, IN; Suzanne & Russell Stalcup, Garland, TX; Leslie & Jack Bonner Jr, Mesquite, TX; and Sheri Files, Garland, TX with numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He entered the Marine Corp in January 1942, along with his brother Ralph, during World War II to fight for his country and help his family. While in the service, he married his love, Wanda (Curtis) Bonner and had his oldest child. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he devoted his time to working hard to give his family a better life. This included graduating with 1,500 hours of training in trade schools for air conditioning. He later became involved in the electric motor business.
He was a professional hydroplane driver and mechanic for champion boat racers in Texas. He also became involved in Karate and fitness. He studied & taught at the Dallas School of Karate (owned by Ed Daniel) Dallas, TX. He was always known for his health and fitness throughout his life. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and camping. He began playing the guitar later in life and had enjoyed it for many years. He was an avid Dallas sports fan and enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and was able to see the Dallas Mavericks win a world championship. He had a passion for racing, particularly, NASCAR and enjoyed watching the career of Jeff Gordon.
He was a very hard worker, wonderful father, and loyal friend to many. His family was his true love and his greatest achievement.
Visitation is 6-8pm, on Friday April 13, 2012 and service will be held at noon, April 14, 2012 at Eastgate Funeral Home, Garland, TX. It will be officiated by Bro Jerry Brown. Interment to follow at Grove Hill Cemetery, Dallas, TX.
