Higinio DeLeon

March 29, 1930 — February 14, 2023

McKinney, Texas

On February 14, 2023, heaven gained another angel.  Higinio DeLeon passed in the company of his wife, daughter, and grandchildren at Baylor Scott and White hospital in McKinney, Texas.  Higinio was born in Mexico, but lived the majority of his adult life in El Paso, Texas.    He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Soledad DeLeon, his only child, Dolores Fletcher, his son-in-law Dennis Fletcher, 5 grandchildren – Greg Serna, William Fletcher, Jennifer Fletcher, Aaron Fletcher, Natalie Fletcher, grandchildren by marriage and family relationships, Mandy Serna, Mary Nguyen, and a great-grandchild Hayden Gentry.  He also leaves behind several siblings and their families – Elvira Galvez, Alberto DeLeon, Juan DeLeon, Eliseo DeLeon, Ezequiel DeLeon, and Cuca Avalos.

Higinio was a master leather craftsman. His belts, gun holsters, knife holders, and a variety of other products were well known in the El Paso region.  He was a bit of a talker and a storyteller in his younger years.  His stories about his young life in Mexico, about family, about learning the trade he loved, and about life in general will not be forgotten.

Rest in peace (decanse in paz).
