H.B. Camp

December 10, 1916 — August 24, 2010

H. B. "Nick" Camp passed away in Plano, Texas, on August 24. A longtime resident of Wichita Falls, TX, he had resided in Farmersville, TX for the past several years. H. B was born December 10, 1916 in Hartselle, Alabama, and grew up in Arab, Alabama. He graduated from Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas in 1939, and earned a Masters Degree at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, spending most of the war in Langley, VA working for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), a predecessor to NASA. He attended 10th and Broad Church of Christ until he moved to the Dallas area in the late 1980s. A real estate investor, he served for many years on the President’s Council at Harding University.
Nick was a devoted family man who never missed his family reunion in Arab, Alabama, for over 50 years, where he held court with relatives from across the United States and as far away as South Africa. He was an unforgettable character, with a knack for storytelling. Like Will Rogers, he never met a man he didn’t like.
