Grenville Lewis III, 84, passed away on December 27, 2011, his family by his side as he joined Christ in eternity. A private memorial service was performed on Thursday, December 29th at the Eastgate Funeral Home in Garland, TX attended by family members and a few close friends.
Gren was born December 28, 1927, in Pittsburgh, PA to Grenville, Jr. and Ruth P. Lewis. He completed his high school education at Charlotte Hall Military Academy and then attended Gettysburg College where upon graduation he enlisted in the Army and received an Honorable Discharge for his service to his Country. He then began his sales career with General Fireproofing and shortly thereafter became a major medical insurance consultant with NRECA and eventually NTCA, moving his family to Dallas, TX in 1962 and then to Richardson, TX in 1964. Gren loved to play golf and was once Club Champion at his home course; Canyon Creek Country Club. He enjoyed ocean cruises and "living the high life" and he and his partner, Nancy Ann Gray, were enjoying the 12 years they had together living this dream.
Gren will forever be remembered by his twin sister, Mary, his beloved partner Nancy Gray, adoring children Grenville Lewis IV, Linda Kugler, Paul Lewis, Tom Lewis and Patty Leeper, treasured grandchildren Michelle Sanders, Grenville Lewis V, Christine Smith, Chad Kugler, Leigha Lewis, Reeve Lewis, Layne Lewis and Brooke Lewis and great grandchild Lindiway Sanders, caring in-laws Kip Kugler, Misty Lewis, Tina Lewis, Ethan Sanders, Bryan Smith, and loving nephew Mike Reed and niece Wendy Osmond, her loving husband Rod and their caring children Stephan and Mandy, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.
Gren touched the lives of many people with his smile and gregarious personality and will be forever remembered for his wit, charm and "one of a kind" sense of humor. He will always be known to our family and precious others as the beloved "Emperor of Dallas", he truly lived life as if a king.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
