Gloria Cindy Barrett

Gloria Cindy Barrett, age 59, of Garland, TX passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, surrounded by her family.  Cindy was born on July 27, 1964 in Dallas, TX, the daughter of Antonio Banda and Bernice Elizalde Banda.

Cindy’s favorite way to spend her time was with her beloved only granddaughter, Zoe.  They spent their weekends out on the town catching the latest Disney movie, doing arts and crafts, and getting lunch together.   Cindy also loved cooking, gardening, and decorating her home.    She married Jeff Barrett on September 18, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Richardson, TX.    Her greatest accomplishment was graduating from Grand Canyon University in 2011 with her master’s degree in nursing.   She worked in the nursing field for 30 years and donated her time and skills taking 6 mission trips to Honduras and 1 mission trip to Panama. 

Cindy will be dearly missed by her husband, Jeff Barrett, son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Jana Ventura, granddaughter, Zoe Ventura, her brothers Tony Banda and Joe Banda, sisters Josie Avila, Chris Salazar, Ruby Velma, Maria Chase and Becky Martinez and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Antonio and Bernice Elizalde Banda and her brother, Johnny Banda,

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home with Father Alfred Garcia as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you reach out to those you hold close and tell them you love them.
