Gene Crawford Baskin, 84 of Sachse, Texas has retired from his earthly labors to be united to his Lord and Savior. Gene was surrounded by family and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Ann Baskin and children Lt. Col. (Retired) Richard R. and wife Caryl A. Baskin, Lisa L. and husband Roland Wortham, and David M. and wife Julie M. Baskin. Grandchildren, Kenna B. and husband Adam Parker, Russell B. Baskin, and Kelly C. and husband Nicholas Stoots. Kyler L., Kaesen L., and Kami L. Wortham. Great-grandchildren, Teagan and Ainsley Parker, Adeline and Connor Stoots.
Gene was born in Daingerfield, Texas to Henry Burl and Ouida Baskin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger sister, Juanita Wester. He grew up in Ennis, Texas where he earned his Eagle Scout and played cornet in the Ennis High Marching Band. After getting married and moving to Garland, he worked as a Comptroller for several different construction companies. Gene was raised as a Master Mason in Garland Lodge # 441 in 1973. He served his lodge as Treasurer and Secretary for several years and enjoyed working with his brothers. He his spare time he loved doing woodworking projects and became very skilled at making toys for his Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, August 5th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 2925 5th Street, Sachse, TX. The funeral services will be Saturday, August 6th at 10:00 AM at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home followed by a brief graveside at Restland Memorial Park.
A reception will immediately follow at the home of David and Julie Baskin.
