Frank H. Ruvaldt

December 13, 1929 — January 21, 2012

Frank Ruvaldt, or Papa Frank as he was know my so many, was born to Frank and Stella Ruvaldt in Terrell, Texas on December 13, 1929. He was their first child. Frank was joined 7 years later by his sister, Shirley Livingston. Frank was very close to his extended family growing up. Many of his cousins were like brothers. They spent many summers helping their grandfather on the family farm in Talty,Tx. Times were tough, but they learned to make the best of any situation and that family was always there to help. Shirley can tell many fond stories of growing up with Frank Jr. and the boys.
Frank attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School. Later attending Jesuit Prep. and Woodrow Wilson High School before joining the United States Navy in 1944. He proudly served on the U.S.S. Boxer and the U.S.S. Appache in the Pacific fleet. Traveling to many locations was a source of fond memories of those times. While stationed in Stockton, CA., Frank married and had two daughters, Vicky and Cathy. He divorced and came back to Texas in 1953 before being re-stationed at Navel Base Great Lakes in Chicago, IL. Frank met Toni Lanctot and married her on Nov.5, 1955. Their first son, Craig was born in 1956. Frank left the Navy and the family moved back to Dallas, Texas. In 1957 they welcomed their second son, Bud (Frank III). Frank and Toni welcomed their third son, Darryl, in 1968. Shortly after their daughter, Missy, in 1969.
Frank worked many jobs to provide for his family. From dairyman to insurance agent with a few others in between, and finally finding a career with his father in General and Paint Contracting. In the 70's, Frank took a position with Lockridge Contractors. Meeting and mentoring many young men, still in the industry today. Frank and his son's, Craig and Bud, starting Ruvalddt Painting Contractors in the early 80's. Their work can still be admired at many homes and businesses in the Dallas area. His eye for detail and un-relenting work ethic helped create a legacy his children will always be proud of. Frank continued to work until 2008, when his health required him to retire.
Thru the years many friends and family members called their household home. Frank and Toni welcomed many people into their family's lives. Never was anyone turned away in their time of need. Their door was always open. A trait he learned from his parents growing up.
Frank loved fishing. Many family weekends and vacations were spent on the water. From his cousin, Jimmy's boat at Lake Twakani to Lake Lavon at the family cabin and Port Aransas deep sea fishing, he taught his children to love his favorite past time. So many of the family photos were taken holding the "catch of the day". His love of the sport is carried on by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Frank is proceeded in his passing by his wife of 43 years, Toni. His son, Darryl, in 1989; his son, Bud, in 2001; and his daughter, Cathy in 1986.
