Emmett Leon Gilmore, of Lavon, Texas, passed from this life on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at the young age of 78. He was born on November 23, 1943, in Vernon, Alabama. He married Sara Bagwell of Aberdeen, MS on April 12, 1967, and then moved to Texas shortly afterwards. In Texas, he pursued a career in the printing industry where he worked until his retirement.
Leon also served in the United States Army as a Communication Specialist during the Vietnam War. His hobbies were hunting with friends and family in Texas and Mississippi. He also enjoyed all things from The Old West; including any episode of Gunsmoke or a western starring John Wayne.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett O'Neal Gilmore and Clara Mae Hall; along with three sisters; Helen Gill, Linda Brack, Glad Gray; and two brothers; John Tyler Gilmore and James Gilmore.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sara Gilmore and his three daughters - Terri Shauchunas (Rodney) of Wylie, TX, Ami Mulholland (Dan) of Corinth, TX, Toni Bronte (Thomas) of Wylie, TX. Along with 9 grandchildren; Jessica Chambers (Jake), Taylor and Rachel Shauchunas, Grant, Madelyn, and Grayson Mulholland, Meagan, Michael and Matthew Bronte; 7 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Sue Merchant, Virginia Patrick, Biddie Cantrell, and Maryann Stapp; and 3 brothers, Jim (Bud) Gilmore, Bobby Gilmore, and Dale Gilmore.
A viewing will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 1:00 PM with the service immediately following at 2:00 PM. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
