Mrs. Ella (Shinn) Brown was born June 30, 1948 to Lennie and Iantha Shinn in Pike Co, Missouri. She was raised with 12 brothers and sisters in Bowling Green, Missouri, where she met and married her husband of 46 years, Joe Brown.

This couple ventured out from their roots and took up residence in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex in 1981, most recently residing in Richardson, Texas. Ella worked in the Real Estate and Mortgage industries for over 40 years, acquainting herself with long-standing and memorable relationships throughout her life.

She was surrounded by loved ones at her passing on July 30, 2012. Ella is survived by her beloved husband, Joe; son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Molly Brown; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Philip Catagnus; grandchildren, Sierra Brown, Philip Catagnus, Clara Brown, Payton Catagnus, Nicholas Brown, Parker Catagnus, Preston Catagnus, Paul Catagnus and Sammy Brown; siblings, brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Carol Shinn; brother-in-law, Bryce Butler; sister, Lois Richards; brother and sister-in-law, Tick and Nancy Shinn; sister and brother-in-law, Lanette and Rob Bird; sister, Myrt Reid; sister and brother-in-law, Neta and Harry Cleve Elder; brother-in-law, Jim Harrelson; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Karen Shinn; sister-in-law, Barb Shinn; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Stephanie Shinn; brother, Wayne Shinn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by brother, Lennie Dale Shinn; sisters, Mary Butler and Dottie Harrelson; and brother-in-laws, Marion Richards and Morris Reid.

A Memorial Service will be held in her honor at 4:00 P.M., Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 2925 Fifth Street, Sachse, Texas 75048. Pastor Lee Carpenter of Firewheel Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) or the American Diabetes Association (donations.Diabetes.org).
