Elizabeth Floyd Krnavek

July 19, 1963 — December 12, 2023

Richardson

Elizabeth (Liz) Ann Floyd Krnavek, age 60, was born July 19, 1963, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to John Richard Floyd and Bettie Lucille Howard.   She entered her eternal rest peacefully on December 12, 2023, surrounded by her loving family after a long, heroic battle with ovarian cancer.

She was preceded in death by her father,  John Richard Floyd;  her beloved maternal grandparents, Alton Johnny Howard and Leona Henrie Howard; step-dad, Clyde G. Holmes, and other family members.

Liz  is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 22 years, Steven Allen Krnavek;  daughter, Hannah Elizabeth Krnavek, and her step-son, Skyler Krnavek.   She is also survived by her mother, Bettie L. Holmes; sisters Janet Epstein Soreff (Alec) and Julie Holmes McKinley (Stan); sister-in-laws, Gina Sanchez, Carolyn Reedy (Robert), and Sharon Avalos (David); brother-in-laws, Kenneth Krnavek (Lori) and Edward Krnavek (Jennifer); nieces, Natasha Sanchez, Emma Soreff, Katrina Sanchez, Juliana Reedy, Ava Bronstad, Micah McKinley, Summer Castillo, and; nephews, Ethan Krnavek, Benjamin Epstein, John Parker McKinley, and Devin Krnavek and numerous aunts, uncles,  cousins, and many close friends.

In Liz’s early years, she loved spending time with her grandmother, Leona, on the family farm.  They had quite the special bond; understandably so, as she shared Granny’s quick wit with a “tad” of precociousness. She and Granny were kindred spirits.

As Liz traveled through her childhood and teenage years, she excelled in school as well as her extra-curricular activities. She  was musically talented as she could beautifully play the piano with her eyes closed, and she was the resident star “shower singer”.  Her artistic ability in drawing and painting was unmatched.  She was a lifelong avid reader and British television fan. As a mom, she immensely enjoyed seeing these traits blossom in Hannah.  One of her most favorite things to do in her last years was listen to Hannah play the piano.

Liz graduated from North Garland High School in 1981.  She obtained her Bachelors of Business Administration from Amberton University. She retired early as a Senior Subcontracts Manager in December 2021 after 25 years at Raytheon Technology Systems.

Liz became a mom at 43.  She would say, by far, her greatest accomplishment was her daughter, Hannah, who she loved with all her heart.  Throughout the years, she has enjoyed watching Hannah grow into the lovely young lady she is today.

Liz was, plain and simple, just beautiful on the inside and the outside.  Her laughter was contagious, and her wicked sense of humor was always a party favorite.  Her heart was genuine, and her fiery spirit served her well in life and love.   And then there was her hair…the hair that caused much envy amongst those who just didn’t have her mane.  Her hair defined  her look and show-cased her personality. Always the pragmatist, though, when cancer first struck, she told everyone, “If I have to choose between having hair or being here, I choose being here.”

She stood steadfast in her loyalty to her family and friends. Liz  demonstrated an unwavering “ toughness” throughout life, often being a champion for others both at work and in her family; for this so many  will be forever grateful. She was,  unequivocally,  a force of nature when it came to loving her family.  If she loved you, you knew it, and she was very well-loved and liked by practically everyone she met.

This is just a small snapshot of her life. There isn’t enough paper or time to properly describe her and the positive impact she had on so many. Liz will forever live in the hearts and memories of all who loved her.
