Edwin L. Norris, of Wylie, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at the age of 76.
 
Ed was born on August 4, 1946 to Clarence and Arlene Norris in Plainview, Nebraska and was the oldest of six children.
 
While stationed in Puerto Rico with the military, he met the love of his life, Margie Itara. Ed and Margie married on July 13, 1969 and recently celebrated their 54th anniversary. They have 2 sons, Robert and Dan.
 
Ed was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served our country for 20 years (1967-1987), including a one year tour of duty in Vietnam. After attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant, Ed graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Health from East Tennessee State University and a Master of Environmental Science from the University of Oklahoma. He was commissioned in the Army as 2nd Lieutenant and served in various staff and command positions until he retired as a Captain in 1987.
 
While in the Army, Ed worked in the field of environmental health and preventative medicine. In the years after he retired from the Army, he continued a career as an Industrial Hygienist at Boeing.
 
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Arlene Norris and sisters Carol and Janet.
 
Ed is survived by his wife, Margie and two sons, Robert Norris (Jody), and Dan Norris (Mandy), as well as his sister Linda Crowl (Darrel), brother Jim Norris (Jackie), and sister Sandi Robinson. Ed loved to be called "Papa" by his six grandchildren Shelby, Augustus, Hunter, Landry, Cavalry, and Macey and five great-grandchildren Charity, Charlynn, Channing, Charleigh, and Eloise.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, July 31, 2023 at The Cross Church located at 100 N. First St. in Wylie, Texas. Visitation will immediately precede the funeral, beginning at 12:00pm. A graveside service with military honors will be held afterwards at Sachse Cemetery.
 
Ed was deeply loved as a husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be remembered for his kindness and tender heart. The memories he blessed us with will be cherished forever.
