Doris Dee Rushing

December 30, 1947 — September 22, 2022

Doris Dee Rushing, better known as Dee, was born on December 30, 1947. He was the 11th of 12 children born to Henry and Mary Rushing of Blue Ridge, Texas. He attended school all 12 years at Blue Ridge. He was of the Baptist faith and a devout Christian. At the time of his death, he lived in Princeton Texas.

On June 10, 1966, he married Ilene McCrary of Princeton, Texas at the First Baptist Church in Blue Ridge, after being sweethearts all through high school. The service was officiated by his father, Rev H. 0. Rushing. Dee and Ilene were soul mates, and were married for 56 years.

They had 3 sons, Jason, Shannon and Nicky. They also had one daughter, Victoria Delene, who died in childbirth.

Dee was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967 and served until 1969. He did most of his service in Viet Nam.

After returning from the war, Dee started and owned a Vent-A-Hood business for 10 years. After selling that business, he also worked for Walmart, Blockbuster, and Monsanto until his retirement in 2002.

Dee was always active and involved in his Church and Community. He attended seminary, he was a Sunday School Teacher and formed Baptist Men's groups. He also served as leader of Royal Ambassadors for young men. He was elected several times as a Representative from his church to the General Baptist Convention of Texas. He truly loved serving his lord.

Dee became involved in the Scouting program as his young boys grew. He was a leader for Pack 303 Cub Scouts of McKinney, Texas, then became a leader in Troop 303 as his boys advanced up. He headed up several annual scout trips into the mountains. He became Assistant Troup Leader and helped many
young men earn become Eagle Scouts.

Dee always loved playing baseball. And his love for the game became more evident as his boys got old enough to play. Not only did he teach them the game at home, he became a Baseball Coach as they grew older and taught other boys as well. He coached several of their teams until they began playing High School baseball. He was so proud of his sons, both for their athletic abilities and their other talents. He watched one son go to college on an Art Scholarship, one on a Baseball Scholarship, and one on a Music Scholarship. He followed them on many of their Collegiate activities while they were in college. He was always commended and revered for his love of family.

Dee was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Rushing, 7 brothers, 2 sisters, and his daughter Victoria Delene. He leaves behind his wife Ilene of 56 years, sons Jason of Princeton, Tx, Shannon and wife Amy of Birmingham Al, and Nicky and wife Erin of Anna, Tx.

He leaves 6 grandchildren: Christian Rushing and Victoria Rushing of Anna Texas, Taylor, Anabel and Caroline Rushing of Birmingham Al, and Lexi Rushing of Allen, Texas.

He has 2 remaining siblings: Joe Rushing of Sherman, Tx, and Nelda Young of Trenton, Tx. He also leaves behind many other family members and friends who loved him very much.

Dee Rushing was a quiet man who loved all people. He never discriminated. He was a helper, a comforter, and a friend to all. If he knew you, you were family. He touched so many lives and left an empty spot in the lives of everyone who knew him.

Dee left us on September 22, 2022, after a long battle with health issues. But even though he has gone to be with his lord and Savior, his footprints remain on our hearts.

This is not goodbye, Dee Rushing. But just a short separation until we see you again in Heaven.
