Doris Dickinson

Doris passed away on 24 February at 9:30 at Victoria Gardens Nursing Home. She was a resident of Frisco, Texas, previously living with her daughter Tamara and her family.

She was born in Marion Indiana to her parents Bill and Juanita Hersey. Up until the mid-1950s her and her 3 sisters lived in Marion, Indiana near her maternal grandparents. The family moved to Mitchell, South Dakota, home of her Paternal Grandparents, and lived in Mitchell the rest of her childhood, until she joined the Army, after graduating from Mitchell High School. While in the Army, she met her first husband Ray Johnston. To this marriage, she was blessed with three children. Troy, Tamara and Trevor.

In 1973, Doris returned to South Dakota with her three children, where she later met her second husband, Bob Dickinson. They lived in Bridgewater, South Dakota, where Doris was a librarian on the local book mobile, based out of Spencer, South Dakota. Once the children were all grown, they moved to Noble, Oklahoma, where they lived until Bob's death in 1999.

In 2005 Doris moved to Virginia, where she lived with her youngest son Trevor, his wife, and their two children.

In 2010 Doris moved to Texas to be near her daughter Tamara, her husband, and their three children.

Doris is predeceased by her husband, Bob Dickinson, her parents Bill and Juanita Hersey, and her younger brothers Bill Hersey and John Hersey. She is survived by her former husband Ray Johnston, her children; Troy Johnston, Tamara (Tracy) Buss and Trevor (Teresa) Johnston, her five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, her sisters; Ruth (Steve) McCleeary, Carolyn (Ken) Hill, and Marilyn (Dave) Miller, and a brother Marion (Fely) Hersey.
