Dennis Ray Veach

Dennis Ray Veach of Sachse, Texas beloved husband, father, brother, and son passed away June 17, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, O.Fred and Norma Veach, a daughter Jennifer Veach, a brother Don Veach, and a niece Gabrielle Langerot.

Dennis is survived by his wife Sharon Veach of Sachse, Texas; a sister Brenda Whittington of Maryville, MO; a brother Kim Veach of Greentop, MO; Sisters-in-law Debra (Dan) Whitworth of Joplin, MO and Karen (Mike) Langerot of Columbus, KS; a nephew Andrew Whitworth of Tipp City, OH; and a niece Caitlin Whitworth of Denver, CO.

Dennis was born in Branson, MO, on October 15, 1950 and graduated from Kirksville High School in 1968. He married his wife Sharon on September 3, 1971.

He earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice at Truman University in Kirksville, MO in 1974. In 1990 he earned an M.A. in Criminal Justice Administration at University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg.

He began his career with the Adair County Sheriff,s Office in 1973, where he served as Deputy Sheriff until joining the Columbia Police Department. Dennis worked for the Columbia Police Department from 1976 until 1998, where he retired as Deputy Chief of Police.

Dennis served as Chief of Police for the Carthage Police Department in Carthage, MO from 1998 to 2007. He began his career with the Sachse Police Department in December 2007 and served the residents of Sachse until he retired in February 2015. He had over 42 years of service in Law Enforcement.

Dennis' hobby was collecting and selling old LP (records). He usually had a smile on his face and enjoyed singing, usually off key.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 21 at 3:oo PM with the funeral following at 4:00 PM at Charles W. Smith and Sons in Sachse, Texas. Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 24, 2:00PM at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City, MO.

In lieu of flowers, the Family requests that donations be made to the Sachse Animal Shelter.
