David Jason Matthews

David Jason Matthews, 50 years old, of McKinney, TX passed away peacefully on May 2^nd, 2023, surrounded by his family, and loved ones. David grew up in El Paso, TX, later moving to Austin, TX where he graduated from James Bowie High School. After high school he enrolled in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country. He eventually settled in Dallas, TX, a place he loved and never left. He wed in 1998 and in 1999 had his son, David Jason Matthews, Jr., his pride and joy.

David worked most of his life in the service industry. He enjoyed working with people where he could share his humor and love for food.

David was such a fun spirited person that thoroughly enjoyed making the most out of life. He loved to spend his time surrounded by friends and family. His hobbies included watching and playing sports, cooking up creative meals, and listening to his favorite music.

Growing up David never met a stranger and loved to make people laugh with his playful sense of humor. He has always been incredibly caring and kind to those around him; with a need to protect and defend the ones he loved. David was always the life of the party and never liked to miss an event.

David is survived by his parents Roger Stacey Matthews and Lan Thi Matthews; brothers Adam Thomas Matthews, Daniel Rawlings Matthews; Tim Nguyen Matthews, sister Linda Nguyen Matthews, and his son David Jason Matthews Jr.; and granddaughter Penelope Quinn Matthews, Sydney Lucia Matthews.
