Clarence Linzy Mohon III

March 11, 1939 — April 16, 2024

Rowlett

C.L. (Linzy) Mohon III, 85, of Rowlett, Texas passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024, surrounded by family.

C.L. was born in 1939 in Waco, Texas. He grew up in De Leon, Texas and attended school where he was a member of the High School Band.  He also played in a Dixieland Jazz Band. During this time, he met his future wife Anita Key of Desdemona, Texas during a Spring Revival at her church in Desdemona.

After graduating from High School in 1956 he joined the US Navy following his Dad who had served in WW2. As a small child the Navy made an impression on his young mind. Boot camp training was in San Diego, California and from there he attended further training in Bainbridge, Maryland. He was assigned to the Destroyer USS Marshall and later transferred to the Destroyer USS John A. Bole. He was a radioman on these Navy Destroyers.

C.L. and Anita were married December 24, 1957. They made their first home in San Diego and they made many good friends during their time there. They enjoyed their many visits to the beach. After being discharged from the Navy they moved back to Texas.

In May 1960 they welcomed their first-born Steve and in 1965 their second son Mark was born. He was interested in any activity the boys were involved in and was always willing to help. He loved being a dad.

After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he began working at E-Systems in Greenville, TX. In 1972 he went to work for GTESW and continued working there until he retired.

During retirement, he and his wife Anita enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. They especially liked Branson, MO and made many trips there. C.L. also liked following the local professional sports teams, and he enjoyed playing dominoes, 42, and games on the computer.

C.L. was a member of Lake Pointe Church-Firewheel Campus and the Masonic Lodge in De Leon.

C.L. was preceded in death by parents C.L. Mohon Jr. and wife Nell Rose. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anita, brother Jim Mohon (Susan), sons Steve (Martha), Mark (Donna), grandchildren Courtney Nobles, Caitlin Wiegand (Eric), Kaci Flowers (Dustin) and great grandchildren Clarisse Flowers and Bodhi Wiegand.
