Carolyn Sue Marotto

September 24, 1933 — October 18, 2021

Carolyn Sue Marotto was born September 24, 1933 and passed away October 18, 2021, the only child of Henry Edmund and Catherine Snow Tigert. She attended O.M. Roberts elementary school and Woodrow Wilson High School. At the age of 17, she married John Marotto and began a long and blessed marriage. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Joe, and her grandson Tony Murphy. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Johnny; Daniel and Sara Marotto, Cathy and Mike Thompson, Teresa and Chris Murphy; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and numerous cousins, whom she considered siblings.

She always valued the importance of family and reveled in family get- togethers. She wanted everyone there and she wanted them frequently. When you came to visit, she would call you before you even got back home, to thank you for the visit. She also loved to talk on the phone to family members and wanted to talk often. It didn't matter if you didn't have anything new to say, she just wanted to hear your voice.

I think she took the book of Genesis to heart, when God told Noah to go forth and multiply and fill the earth. That's why she took so much pride in her very large family. She would show it, when telling stories of the accomplishments or escapades of one family member or another. She might get the names wrong on occasion, but she loved to tell the stories.

She was a long time member of St. Pius parish and truly loved her time there. She loved the people of the parish and felt a sense of belonging and ownership there. She used to wash the albs and other white altar linens and took great care to do a great job. She used to attend woman's circle meetings, and was a member of the over 55 club. She was a long time Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister. She attended bible studies and prayer groups that were very fulfilling for her. She felt like she was part of the St. Pius family.

She had many lifelong friends and she did her best to make them feel a part of her sense of family. Even friends of other family members were given that special treatment as part of the family. She will be sorely missed by many.
